Dear Families
As we reach the end of the school year, I have been reflecting on what has been a truly wonderful first year as Headteacher. It has been a privilege to lead our school and become part of such a caring, supportive and ambitious community.
Over the past year, we have worked hard to listen to the views of our pupils and parents. Your feedback has helped shape many of the improvements we have made, and I am grateful for the honesty, encouragement and ideas that you have shared along the way. We know that schools are strongest when they work in partnership with families, and it has been fantastic to see increasing opportunities for parents to engage with school life through workshops, events, celebrations and meetings.
Our pupils have told us how important playtimes are, so we have invested in additional playground equipment and toys, helping to make breaktimes even more enjoyable and active. We have also been proud to provide more opportunities for children to perform, whether through assemblies, concerts, productions or special events. Watching their confidence grow as they share their talents has been one of the highlights of the year.
Looking ahead, we are excited about the introduction of our new school dinner menu, which will provide even more choice and ensure our children continue to enjoy healthy, nutritious meals each day.
The summer holidays will be a busy time for the school site, with a significant programme of building and improvement works taking place. These developments will help create even better learning environments for our children, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to see the changes.
Early in the autumn term, we will be inviting parents into school for a special open afternoon, giving families the opportunity to see the improvements, visit classrooms and celebrate the exciting start to the new academic year together. Further details will follow in September.
None of this would be possible without the incredible support of our school community. I would like to thank our parents and carers for their continued encouragement and partnership throughout the year. My thanks also go to our dedicated Governing Body for their guidance and challenge, and to our fantastic PTA whose hard work and fundraising efforts make such a positive difference to the experiences we can offer our children.
What a busy and successful year it has been! I am immensely proud of all that we have achieved together and excited about what lies ahead. As this is the last Blue Beacon of the year, on behalf of all the staff, I wish you and your families a happy, safe and relaxing summer break, and I look forward to seeing everyone in September!
Warm regards

Careers Week
What an amazing Careers Week we have had. A massive thank you to all the people and companies that supported us. The children have had so many opportunities to learn about different jobs they may want to consider when they are older and the different ways to get into them from degrees, apprenticeships and just pure enjoyment and interest. This is such a great age to get thinking about the possibilities that lie ahead of you and this has been made possible by all the volunteers we have had.
Thank you to all our volunteers - without them, this week wouldn’t have been possible.
Reception Parental Engagement
Dormouse Class had a fabulous afternoon on Wednesday creating pirate ships. It was wonderful to see them collaborating with their parents and the creative ideas were very impressive! Thank you so much to the parents for supporting this by providing the egg boxes and coming along to the event. The children had a brilliant time.
Year 5 Water Fight
Thank you to all the Year 5 parents and families who sold the most raffle tickets for the May Fayre. As a reward, the children chose a class water fight! Armed with water pistols, water blasters and plenty of enthusiasm, the children had a fantastic time getting soaked and enjoying some well-deserved fun together. There were lots of smiles, laughter and friendly competition throughout the event, making it a memorable reward for everyone involved.
Year 5 Debating
At the end of June, Deborah, Lily, Maia and Rosa participated in the BEP Debating Competition at IKB Academy, competing against teams from Uffculme, Neroche and Wellesley Park. Despite being a team member short, the team rose to the challenge and adapted brilliantly at short notice. The girls took part in two debates during the day, demonstrating confidence, resilience and excellent teamwork throughout. Well done to the team who represented the school superbly and should be very proud of their efforts and the way they supported one another.
Year 5 Bikeability
Some Year 5 children recently completed Bikeability training, where they developed important cycling skills and increased their confidence riding safely. They learnt how to check and maintain their bikes, fit helmets correctly and navigate roads safely, including turning at junctions, performing U-turns, using roundabouts and overtaking parked cars.
The instructors were impressed by the children's enthusiasm and willingness to learn. The sessions has helped them become safer, more responsible cyclists while developing valuable life skills. We hope they will continue to practise these skills with adult supervision and build their confidence on their bikes.
Year 6 Production
Year 6 performed The Greatest Show and was what an incredible production it was! We were so proud of the children, who took to the stage with confidence, enthusiasm and professionalism. They fully embraced their characters and delivered outstanding performances throughout.
The dedication and hard work shown during weeks of rehearsals were evident in every aspect of the show. The children approached each practice session with positivity, commitment and determination, which enabled them to perform to such a high standard.
Their excellent singing, acting and stage presence made the production a huge success and a memorable experience for everyone who attended. Year 6 have certainly set the bar high for next year's performers to follow!
Thank You
A huge thank you to Taunton Timber for their generous donation of wood to our school.
The wood will be used to create a new mud kitchen in our Forest School area, helping us enhance our outdoor learning environment for the children.
Well Done
Recently, some of the girls from Bishop’s Hull School took part in the Stagestruck show, delivering excellent performances in singing, dancing, and acting. It was wonderful to see their talents shining through and all done with a smile. We are incredibly proud of them and their achievements.
