Dear Parents/Carers

What a wonderful week it has been in school! World Book Day was truly a highlight—our corridors were filled with colourful characters, excited chatter and the joy that only stories can inspire. It was absolutely fabulous to see all the children dressed up and so eager to share their favourite books with one another. From tiny witches and wizards to courageous heroes and curious creatures, every costume brought a smile and it was a joy to witness the imagination and enthusiasm that make days like these so special.

We’ve also been delighted to welcome several visits and visitors into school recently, all helping to bring learning to life in meaningful and memorable ways. It is always lovely to see how much our families contribute to these experiences—whether through supporting trips, sharing expertise, or simply engaging with the children’s excitement afterwards. And finally, we’re thrilled to share the launch of our brand-new Facebook page! This will be a brilliant way to stay connected, celebrate achievements and share updates from the vibrant life of our school community - just search Bishop's Hull Primary. We can’t wait to see you there!

Warm regards.

Mrs Kerry Exon

EYFS

At the end of this term, we will be saying goodbye to Miss Brimble, who will be leaving us at Easter after many years as part of our school community. We are grateful for the time and commitment she has given during her service and we know children and families alike will want to join us in wishing her well for the future.

From next term, the class will be taught by Miss Carpenter at the start of the week; she will be visiting the school soon so the children can meet her before she officially joins us. We’re pleased to confirm that Forest School will continue on Tuesdays after Easter, ensuring continuity for the children.

A big thank you to Mrs Turner for designing our new Inspiration Tree for our school. All the children drew a leaf for the tree and each week our Gold Leaf winners will have their leaf added as part of our ongoing celebration of success across the school.

Fire Drill

Your child may come home today and mention that we had a fire drill. As a school, we carry out regular fire drills to ensure we keep all of our children safe.

The children were absolutely amazing—calm, sensible and quick to follow instructions as they made their way onto the playground. We are very proud of how well they handled the drill.

Lost Property

We currently have a large amount of lost property in school. Please take a moment to look through it and check whether anything belongs to your child.

Any items that remain unclaimed by the end of term will be donated to the clothes bank. We kindly ask that all of your child’s belongings are clearly labelled so that we can return items to their rightful owners rather than them ending up in lost property.

Thank you for your support.

Residentials

This is a gentle reminder regarding the upcoming Kilve and Escot residential trips. If you have not yet made the required payment, we kindly ask that this is completed as soon as possible.

All Kilve payments need to be completed by the end of next week. If you have not yet completed this payment, we would be grateful if you could do so as soon as possible so that we can finalise our arrangements.

For the Escot residential, the payment deadline is 5 May. If you have not yet made this payment, please ensure it is completed at your earliest convenience. These payments are essential for ensuring we can provide the best experience for all children attending.

If you are experiencing any difficulties with payment or need to discuss options, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.

Thank you very much for your support and co-operation.

Every Child Achieving and Thriving' - SEND White Paper

Following the recent publication of the Government’s SEND White Paper in February, 'Every Child Achieving and Thriving', we would like to reassure families that there are currently no changes to the support your child receives at school.

The White Paper sets out the Government’s longer-term vision for strengthening inclusive practice and improving the consistency of SEND provision across the country. At this stage, these proposals are not legally binding and do not require schools to make any immediate changes.

Our commitment remains the same: to provide high-quality support for all pupils with special educational needs and disabilities. We will continue to monitor developments closely and will keep families updated as further guidance and confirmed information becomes available.

Thank you and congratulations to Kev and all the school parents who ran in the Half Marathon last weekend.
