Dear Families
This is one of my favourite times of the year at Bishop's Hull Primary School. As we begin welcoming prospective parents and families through our doors for our Reception tours, it provides a wonderful opportunity to pause and reflect on what makes our school such a special place.
Quite simply, I am incredibly proud of our school. Every time I show visitors around, I am reminded of just how awesome our community is. Visitors often comment on the warm welcome they receive, the calm and purposeful atmosphere around the school and the confidence with which our children speak about their learning.
What stands out most, however, is our children. Their manners, kindness and respect for one another shine through every day. Whether in classrooms, around the school grounds or on the playground, our pupils consistently demonstrate the values that make Bishop's Hull such a positive place to learn and grow. Their behaviour is something we are immensely proud of and it reflects the strong partnership between school and home.
I am also continually inspired by our sense of community. Bishop's Hull is far more than a school; it is a place where children, families and staff work together, support one another and celebrate success together. Combined with our vibrant learning environment and high expectations for all, this creates a school culture that is both nurturing and ambitious.
Thank you for your continued support. I hope you enjoy reading about some of the many wonderful things that have been happening across our school this month.
Kind regards.

Keeping Our School Site Safe
When entering and leaving the school site at the beginning and end of the day, please could you ensure that all gates are closed securely and are not propped open.
We kindly ask for your support in ensuring that all gates are allowed to close properly after use, as failure to do so, compromises the security of our site and the safety of our children. By working together, we can help maintain a safe and secure environment for everyone during the school day.
Collection of Siblings from Classrooms and After School Club
Please note that children who are not in Year 9 or above are not permitted to collect younger siblings from classrooms at the end of the school day.
This rule also applies to the collection of children from our After School Club. Children below Year 9 must not be sent to collect siblings from the club.
These arrangements are in place to help ensure the safety and welfare of all children on site. We would be grateful for your support and cooperation.
Healthy School
As a healthy school, we kindly ask that children do not bring birthday treats, cakes, sweets or other food items to share in school with immediate effect. This is due to the increasing number of allergies and food intolerances among our pupils and to help ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children.
We would also like to remind parents that lunchboxes and snacks for wraparound care should contain healthy options.
Car Park
We are grateful for the support of the police in helping to keep everyone safe in our school car park.
Thank you to all parents and carers who are choosing to park considerately and, in particular, for not parking on the double yellow lines. By working together, we can help ensure that our school site remains safe for all children, families and staff at the beginning and end of the school day.
Early Years Playground
When waiting for school to start in the morning, we would greatly appreciate it if children could refrain from playing in the Early Years playground. Reception children use this area during the school day and helping to keep it clear before the start of the school day supports their safety and learning environment. Thank you.
KS2 Cross Country
Well done to all of the KS2 children who have taken part in Cross Country this term. Every child who competed showed great determination and effort and all participants were presented with a certificate in assembly celebrating their achievements and race results.
Following the Year 5/6 race, children also had the opportunity to take part in a Colour Run, which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone involved!
The next Cross Country events will take place in March and we look forward to seeing many of our children involved once again.
Year 5/6 Invasion Games Festival
On Monday after school, students from Taunton College hosted an Invasion Games Festival for our Year 5 and 6 pupils. The children had the opportunity to take part in a variety of fun and friendly activities across four sports: netball, football, handball and ultimate frisbee.
The children thoroughly enjoyed trying some new sports as well as developing their skills in more familiar ones. Throughout the afternoon, they demonstrated excellent teamwork, sportsmanship and respect, both towards one another and the pupils from the other participating schools.
Harvest Service
A huge thank you for your support and generosity in contributing to our Harvest Service collection.
We are delighted to share that Bishop’s Hull School donated an amazing 128.7kg of food. This fantastic contribution will help support local families and individuals in need within our community.
PTA News
It has been so exciting to see everyone's enthusiasm for the Scholastic Book Fair this week, so a huge thank you to everyone who has volunteered with us or supported their children to choose books.
The final opportunity for purchases will be Monday 12th October from 3.30 - 4.15 pm. We will be in the foyer (not the main hall) so please enter via the main office doors.
Another big thank you to everyone who donated uniform or came to stock up from our Pre Loved sale on Tuesday and Thursday and to anyone who entered our competition to 'Guess the name of the spider'!

And something new...
Light up Bishop’s Hull this Christmas!
The PTA is creating a festive trail map of decorated houses for local children to explore. If your Christmas display could bring a smile on a chilly December walk and you’re happy to hide a laminated clue letter for our mystery‑word competition, we’d love you to join in.
If you’d like to take part, please email your name and address to bishopshullpta@hotmail.com by 22nd November and help us spread some Christmas cheer across the village.
The maps will be on sale at the Christmas Fair on 4th December.

Help their child manage big emotions
Stay calm and confident during challenging moments
Build stronger, more positive relationships
